Property Value

When my husband and I bought our house almost four years ago, I worried about this in our backyard.

Now, we have a fenced in backyard, and the train is really a bit farther off than it looks, so I wasn’t worried so much about the safety of our future children. I was worried about the sound of the whistle, the rumble of the cars, and the potentially negative impact of its proximity should we ever resell the house.
Well, it turns out my worries were unfounded.  I absolutely love our house, and my husband and I really never even notice when the train goes whizzing by on the tracks.
But somebody does…

…and so does his brother.

The far off rumbling of the train will stop my little guys in their tracks (pun intended) and bring them toddling – fists “choo-choo-ing” in the air – directly to the one window in the house with the best view.
It doesn’t matter if we are playing with the most cherished toy of the day…and eating a freshly baked cookie…and Elmo is singing on the TV.

We stop for the train.

And, I guess in a way, that makes our property, well, invaluable. 😉
