Toddler Trail Mix

I’m always looking for new snack ideas, especially since Big Brother’s favorite word this month is “Cah-ker.”  He typically spends a good portion of his day banging on the pantry door begging for a cracker…although it is usually a granola bar, some Veggie Straws, or cereal – and very rarely an actual cracker – that he is seeking.

Big Brother’s ravenous appetite combined with Little Brother’s current love of “Bix-Bix” (Crispix) lead us to a fun new toddler trail mix.  I’m convinced that this snack was a huge factor in keeping them happy and entertained on our recent plane ride.  They especially love fishing out their favorite parts, the little chocolate “bishes” or goldfish.  Fyi…from the mouth of a toddler, “bishes” sounds almost as bad as it looks. 😉

Currently, our favorite method of consumption is via Ziploc bags.

I think they love the independence of being able to hold their own little bag.

And, apparently reaching in and pulling out a morsel makes for a pretty entertaining activity for an 18-month-old.

Good enough to take a break from our trucks…now that’s some yummy stuff!

Toddler Trail Mix (Nut Free)

2 c Banana Chips
2 c Goldfish Grahams or Annie’s Chocolate Bunny Grahams
6 c Crispix

Mix ingredients together and store in an airtight container.  Serve individual portions in toddler friendly bowls or baggies.
