Family Friendly Easter Celebrations

Easter I

Inspired by Moms Encouraging Moms great list of suggestions for including kids in your observation of Lent and the idea of a Christmas Book Advent over at Elle Keeps Moving, we’ve decided to do an Easter Book Basket for Lent this year.  Each day between now and Easter, we’ll let the boys choose an Easter or other faith-nurturing book to read.  Of course, forty books on any one topic is a lot, so we will likely read select stories from a favorite children’s Bible, make use of our local library, and probably even repeat a few favorites.

Our goal will be to sit down each night as a family to read a book of the boys’ choice. (And I’m sure, as two-year-olds, they will always agree.)  However, with our crazy schedules, there are sure to be some days where we read our Lenten selection during the day or with just Daddy, etc.  This will not “replace” any reading we are already doing with the boys, but will hopefully increase the amount of time we are sitting together with a book in our hands.

How will you celebrate Easter and/or the Lenten season this year?  Please share any favorite crafts, recipes, traditions, or stories with us between now and Easter (March 31st).  Looking forward to sharing your inspiration.  Thank you!
